Just had the tank off to change the air filter, am going to change the plugs soon - the rear two are easy enough, how the hell do you get to the front two?? Is it a radiator-off job?? :?:

**EDIT** Just had a look in the Haynes, is it the same as for the NC30 etc - undo the radiator lower mounts and swing it forward?? I take it you dont have to drain the system for this??

No mate you do not have to drain the system. Same procedure as the nc30.If you can't get in to them that way then you could remove the carbs too, loads of room then. But getting the carbs back on can be a pain, New carb rubbers are a good idea, depending on what state your old ons are in.

 Just a bit, but enough to get access to the plugs. Do you have the proper plug spanner that comes with the tool kit?
David silvers had them if you don't.

I find a piece of rubber hose pipe about 8" long over the plugs gives you just enough control to screw them in but not so much that you can cross thread them. As the plugs are really deep in the head you can use the hose as an extension.

Cool - thanks for all the tips!
Used a sparkplug socket with a short extension for the rear plug, all good!
Can the radiator mounts be accessed with the fairing still on??

It's easy to do :P

What is annoying is changing the rear downpipes without taking the engine out!!

As said before take the lower fairings off and undo the two 10mm bolts (1 each side of the rad) and swing it upwards, pull of the plug caps and use the honda spark wrench / 10mm ring spanner and et-voila.

I don't have a toolkit for my NC24 but the plug spanner off the CBR954 RR3 fits so I use that!

Get you, lol
What a lot of faffing just to change two plugs... the price of technology...

Can the rear exhaust headers be reached by taking the swingarm off??
(At work at the mo, did have a look the other day and it seems like a heluva job....)

Most people seem to drop the engine out the frame. I managed to unbolt mine enough to get a new crush gasket in the to stop the blowing using a long mangled up 10mm ring spanner.

If you scroll down to the bottom of that page, theres an Exhaust section under Common Problems

Details how to work on the system with some good pics.
