Right help me out here peeps, the day has come to finally paint my RVF, decals have arrived and bodywork is off the bike to be prepped but i just have one small dilema.
As most of you know i have a silhouette nose cone but sadly no lightcovers and seeing as getting a pair will cost more than double what i paid for the nosecone i found some clear lexon sheet that can be easily cut to shape. Now my dilema is do i make 2 light covers, 1 for each side and cover the right one in black vinyl to match the number board or just 1 cover for the left side and completely blank off the right hole defacing quite a rare nosecone? the upside to this is it'll look proper and not just made to look like an endurance bike, it'll also alllow me to ditch the right headlight giving me some much needed space for electrics and the battery.

so what do ya think, blank it off or use a light cover and keep the silhouette nosecone how it should be?

If it's going to look the part, the light has to go, just think of all the weight saving!
Could this be done so it's reversible, maybe?!

HRC used to list covers for both right and left lights. You would often see one painted over.
I'd make two covers paint one and remove the spare head lamp. You havn't ruined your top fairing and its what they did bck in the day.

^^this
remove the light anyways and make the covers.
even make a drilled cover to allow cooling to the battery/reg rec and whatever else you stash behind it!

my plan is the same tony, but im going to keep the head light in and put a crimp on the neutral so when the cover is on i can disconect the light without having to pull the plug off the bul each time, i may even wire a switch on for ease,
light cover on both and the RHS light will be Vinyled to encorperate the number board.
dont fuck the silhouete cone up it will be worthless if you decide to sell on
(to me, do it in fact, ill buy it for half the price
)
dont trash the cone, just use a cover like Kris's OkI you know that looks trick and so will the AM:PM

Hmmmm i kinda expected more peeps to say fill it in. Ok theres a couple of small details i should have included in the first post.
1. This is not going to be a everyday bike, stressed motor and lots of lightweight impractical parts, its just a toy and the need for a 2nd headlight for practicability is zero.
2. Im never selling it, or the the nosecone
3. It just looks right

I think i'll make the covers and see how they fit, then maybe stop being such a fussy git
Ricky, no point in me sending you the templates as there different, there even different than kris's OKI bike with the NC30 silhouette nosecone.

Could you mount a flush light cover with some kind of sealant then cover it with vinyl. You could then easily return the nosecone to standard form if you wish to in the future.

2. if your never selling then only you can answer your own question,
do what you want and not what other do!
template.
mine is going to be flush fitted to the standard NC nose cone, i dont have a silohuete one i wish i did but the NC30 will have to do for now,
just need a shape template so i can cut the perspex and then mould to the shape of the nosecone.

If it were my bike and I'd gone for the headlight cover, I can imagine me looking at the finished, sprayed bike thinking it would've looked better with the nose cone filled in.
Looks class already though. Can't wait.
