Faulty fuel tap?!?

Post by raywilby »

Hi guys, would a faulty fuel tap cause the bike from working properly? My bike leaks petrol in any position from the tap. It doesn't start properly anymore and you can smell petrol all the time. It worked fine a week ago before the tap went wrong and the rectifier packed up and caused my battery to die. I have been told it needs honing but I dont believe them. :(

Cheers,

Ray

Open your oil filler cap and smell for petrol. My fuel tap was broken or breaking. I managed to bag a new one for £48 on ebay.

Can you repair the tap? it seems like something is stuck open. How hard is it to get into one?
