fz 400r

hello everybody, i have just bought (cheap) 2 fz 400s iam going to build 1 good bike out them,
has anybody got any information on these as they are a bit rare now.
stuff i need to know is fork oil level and weight and valve clearances ,

The FZ .... gosh that goes back a bit. Are we talking steel square section frame and a kind of coffin tank ???
The forks might be similar to the FZ600 - it used a XJ aircooled engine in a FZ400 frame, so I'd guess the forks are similar, but I don't know much more.
Are you looking for a full back to original or just a ridable bike ???

hi, just a ridable bike for now, the other bike will become a trackday toy with a xj 600 engine in it as i miss riding on track, nice to see a forum just for 400cc bikes as i think there are underated.

Ok - have a look in the general section at the top and you'll see a sticky thread for manual downloads follow the links and you might be lucky for FZ manual. If not set it up with the FZR Genesis maual.
One thing to remember is the forks were always soft on these so it's probably going to be a suck it and see thing anyway. You might want to put in some longer spacers (if it runs them) to give it a bit more compression (I think).
Where abouts are you ?
