Hi,
Still having trouble with exactly how to go about checking my valve clearances on the gk76, Stripes has had a go at explaining but over the phone its very confusing when not really much of a clue whats what :)
I havent got a manual for the 76 but Ive found this in the one for the 85-87 manual and was wondering if the way its done is the same?

Aware it uses tappets instead of shims and clearences are different, its just the method of checking im uncertain about.
In the pic it basically shows that you check the no1 in and ex, no2 ex, no3 in, all while the outside pistons are at tdc. Then rotate the crank 360 and check the remaining ones (no2 in, no3 ex, no4 in and ex). So just wondering if the 76a is pretty much the same as this?
Cheers,

hey mate.
try and ignore the degrees etc.
easiest way to explain is...
the pointy end of the cam is what gives the lift when in contct with the shim. the opposite side to that is where you need to check your clearances. so you just rotate to that and check.
does that make sense? :peace:

Yeah makes sense, tried that already ages ago, not sure why but I dont think I checked all of the shims or wrote down the values for some reason. Just put it all back together yesterday with 18 links in between the cam marks as thats what it came like before I stripped it down, still doesnt want to start.
