Owww'doo!

I Have a 3TJ and i've been considering taking out the existing sender unit and fitting one which wires up to a gauge as oppose to the original which somehow by magic (still cant figure it out :P clever japs) drops a cylinder from firing. When you flip the switch it fires up again etc, sure you all know this anyway...But i've been riding it around with the sender unplugged to see if it makes any difference and i cant see it causing the old girl any problems........would it? :rocks:

It's to tell you your low on fuel - so you flip the switch go to the garage and put some in.
Alternatively reset the trip odometer when you fill up and you'll get ... XXX amount of miles from a tank, (about 120-130 depending on the bike) until you can expect to go on reserve

if the fuel sender is unplugged then it wouldn't cause a problem, you just won't know if your about to run out of fuel ;)

i had the same problem myself (there's another thread somewhere in this section)

the conclusion i came to is my fuel sender is fu*ked as the reserve switch is ok when tested, so until i see a cheep one on the bay i'll continue to count the miles or in my case Km, 180Km then it's time to find a garage

thanks for the reply both :) mine works fine and does let me know when im low, i was just considering a more modern alternative....lazyness on part as my maths is terrible :D but ive decided to keep the bike as original as possible dont wanna mess with it to much :P
