the front end of my 3tj hybrid finnally got its new fork stanchions in with freshly painted legs,new seals,slider bushes and some maxton 9.5 springs and my thoughts turned to the front brakes.i originally put some gsxr600 k3 calipers on to replace the tired 3tj originals using some of nk racings caliper hangers to mount them,but though they were good i just couldnt get the feel i was after in the braking department.im using an ap racing adjustable ratio master cylinder and after a bit of head scratching came to the conclusion that the tockico calipers and the master cylinder werent suited!so ive managed to graft on a pair of nissin fireblade 929 calipers as these are used with a 19mm master cylinder as standard on the blade,which should hopefully let the master cylinder work alot better and give a bit more feel.the hangers needed abit of modifying as did the calipers themselves and as luck would have it i picked up a brand new pair of ebc prolite discs for 112 quid off of e-b*y though they needed 2mm skimmed from the outer edges to fit the calipers without touching the inside of the caliper bodies.

fingers crossed they work,should be road worthy by the weekend hopefully as im having a few issues fitting a new pipe that wasnt designed to go on a 20 year old 400 but a k5 gsxr1000-fingers crossed

were the ebc discs the road legal ones? You might find it will fail an mot if they weren't, depends on how observant the tester is!

That looks really nice - you hardly notice the adapters. is it on a black bike ???

thanks for the kind words guys,i just hope it works ok,it did take hours of pi$$ing around to do and if id known it was such a ball ache id have probably done something a bit simpler.the hangers look better in the pics than close up as with the mods i had to do theyre bordering on the heath robinson school of bodging but im happy with them.just need to get the new arrow pipe sorted and she will be ready to ride again,luckily i bought a tidy 600 fazer over the winter so im ok for some 2 wheeled kicks though the fazer feels a bit of a heavy old bus compared to the 3tj-good on gas though-bugger im getting old!!

i've never,ever known a tester to check the compound of a set of pads.

nope but some know the coding on the discs!

if you lack a bit of feel try the good ol silocone fluid works real well plus keeps low temp if on brakes hard..

I use auotomec dot 5 pure silocone... it's not cheap..but i swear by it now as has cured all problems with feel and boil on the race bikes.. Good Stuff..not tried any others so wouldn't want to comment
