Having just recieved my new rear shock, I'm going to do a bit of research, what are the stock settings for the shock? or has anyone played around with it on a 76a and got good settings?
Many thanks!

How does it measure up to the old shock and what weight springs are fitted to both the K7 and 76a shocks?
I think the K7 is about 650lb.

I have 2 gk76a's
one has k6 600 shock and fully adjusable forks
and the other has the standard non adjustable gsxr400 forks with k7 600 shock
im yet to play with the setting on my road bike, but the track bike has been set up for a 12 stone rider.

I just fitted the K7 shock to my GK76aSP, it has a pretty stiff spring on it, static sag is just 12mm with me on (just under 11st). For regular road riding, I think it would want a softer spring for a more controlled ride but this is going to be doing some novice track-days, so stiff is good

I'll give a full report when I get it back on the road.
FWIW, I found that the spring *just* touches the swingarm, so it might need fettling a bit. I had to file away the linkage and used four washers on the dogs to get clearance, but otherwise it fits like it's meant to go in there.

Actually, as it happens, I never bothered to measure them! I just took it on faith that Gavsta knew what he was doing when I got it. Surely the lengths are irrelevant, given that the length changes dependant on the pre-load settings etc..?

Should have an effect as if shocks of different lenghts are used the pivot angle will change giving different rate at the linkage ( i think).

I'll be sure to make the comparisons between the shocks when I come round to it (hopefully on monday) and get plenty of pictures etc
The lack of sag might be a problem for you Jaicen, but I'm quite a big lump of a man at 15 1/2 stone and 6ft2 but the weight is coming off, need to get back into those leathers after an indulgent winter
I guess my best bet is to just put it on as it is (I guess standard K7 settings) and play with it once I've ridden it and fine tune it to me!

I can go measure the standard shock and see how that compares if you like, though the K7 is currently stuffed into the bike, so measuring that might prove tough

If you measure your standard shock I'll measure my k7 one tomorrow for comparison
