so how do i do it?

the haynes doesnt really have a section on it...it says how to strip the forks down but surely i dont have to remove them etc??

can i just remove the tops of the forks and drain the oil out from the bottom??? and then re-fill with the right ammount of new oil and just put it all back together???

how do i drain the oil out?? i assume there is a drain bolt???

sorry if this is a really stupid question but i dont know how to do it on the vfr....i can do it on my TZR but thats a different bike!!!!

if its just oil, then top off, and drain. although i would usually take internals out and change seals too.

I don't thing the NC30 has drain screws.

The quick and dirty way is to loosen the fork caps, remove the forks, remove the caps and springs and turn upside down, pumping the fork a few times.

Then turn the right way and fill and replace everything.

But you will leave quite a bit of fluid and mank in there and the amount given in the manual will be wrong, you'll have to go by level. If you have a lot of fluid[1] you can fill with fresh, pump lots then drain again.

do you know if you have later or early type NC30 forks. i can only comment on the early ones, they are easy.

you need to take the forks off the bike so you need a good solid stand, i use an ABBA stand.

the NC30 has a drain screw at the bottom, it is an allen head.

yup, only changed fork oil 2 times, thats how i done it both times

If you are referring to the cap-head screw on the bottom of the forks, its actually the damper retaining bolt. Removing it is no guarantee it will allow the oil to drain out because there is a damper rod and damper rod seat held in place by it, effectively blocking the hole off. I wouldn't recommend loosening it unless you are planning on removing the damper rod assembly, and certainly not just to drain the oil.

As others have said, the best way is to remove the fork cap and turn them upside-down.
