brake caliper question

Hiya All,
RE:Brake Caliper Question
Man, I have opened up a can of worms here!
One of the front left brake pads is flopping around in the caliper for some reason.
There is definate movment of the pad, going up and down. Thats how I spotted the offending pad.
It is the Front left caliper. The "In Side" Pad is moving about - all the other Pads are stuck firmly in place.
OK, the pad moves up and down. This freeplay is alot more obvious than any "side to side" Movement. Is the "Up and down" movement suppose to be allowed in a caliper?!?!?!
All the other 5 pads are stuck fast in position.
My Checks so far:
(1) When I pull the Bake Lever, the movement on the Floppy Pad goes. Ie the pad is now gripped onto the Caliper. The Brake piston itself appears to be moving ok.
(2) When I let go of the Brake lever, the Brake pad floppyness comes back again. Ie. the piston appears to be moving ok.
(3) On the Offending Caliper, the "Retaining Sprung plate" is much softer than on the Other Front Caliper. I can bend the plate back a bit, away from the pads etc. Whereas the other caliper's is firmly stuck into place.
There is definate movent in the pad up and down. Thats how I spotted the offending pad.
What Do I do next guys?
Hope you can advise!
Cheers
Martin
