None of them you can use the Yamaha part or get a 1WG K+N and twist the top so squashes down to fit. There isn't much to gain from a K+N though the airbox itself is the restriction.

Before I search for a K&N, has anybody found a replacement filter for these? part number is 3TJ-14451-00.
I found.
http://motorcycleproducts.co.uk/catalog ... 61518.html which looks like the correct one but I have not been able to get a response from them yet.

Thanks rock. EC can you elaborate on the restriction issue. Is the intake too small, if so has anyone made an alternative lid for the air cleaner? Maybe a taller lid to fit the 1WG element with more or larger intake holes.

Np mate. I did notice they list a different filter for the 3TJ-2 onwards.
Also having looked at the yamaha parts pdf I've been sent by another 400GB member, the carb-to-airbox inlet stubs are proper shorter on the later 3TJ's. Cant see that having a massive effect though......

More on this
I do not have a complete parts book but I found this. It shows what looks like an alternate lid.
Is that a kit part?
The air filter element that I have (could be the wrong one) has an ID of 64mm which is the same area as 4 x 32mm carbs. However the ID on the inside of the air filter lid is 52mm and that yields a 21.24 square cm area. The rectangular intake on the outside has an area of about 16.5 square cm and tapers down to a smaller size than that. Obviously all four carbs do not draw at the same time but if the consensus is that there is a restriction then this might be it.

Ok thanks for clearing that up. Obviously missing on mine.
How about some details about the restriction that you mentioned EC.
Any common cures, jetting changes, dyno tests etc

It really came from a guy on here a while back - he worked for K+N. He said the K+N filter was ok to fit an not rejet, it didn't give any improvement in the airflow because the design of the airbox was the the governing factor.
When the 4JH 600 engine is fitted to the 3TJ it's the airbox that is the tricky thing, if you get enough air into it it's fine but if not it will limit the engine. One of the mods is to fit a 750 snorkel to give a larger appeture.
Before you go running off to get one remember that more air in needs to be ballanced through the engine and out through the exhaust which includes the exup. A bigger appeture and will need to be rejetted but if you can't get the mixture into the combustion chamber all you'll do is use more fuel .... probably
