FZR 400 Genesis downpipe removal/replacement

Hi guys,

I recently set about getting my FZR Genesis 1986 back on the road and the first things I needed to get sorted were the exhaust blowing around the manifold on cylinder 3, and the front fork seals being shot.

The outer downpipes came away with no problem, but removing the inner two proved to be very tricky. I started using penetrating oil on the manifold studs and tryed an impact driver to try and remove the old rust nuts. Even with the nuts gone, the clamps were still stuck fast on the studs which left me with somewhat of a problem.

Ultimately I ended up having to remove the whole exhaust system by breaking the rusted downpipes on the inner two cylinders and then using an angle grinder to carefully cut the manifold clamps up in to small enough pieces to act as nuts to remove the studs. I dont think it is possible to fix the exhaust I currently have and I'm wondering if anyone has suitable downpipes that I could buy/get/trade with to replace the old rusty ones? I guess the FZR600 ones will fit, and probably EXUP pipes  ?

Cheers

600 will be too long I think, they are on the 3en1's! I've got a set of 3en1 ones decent enough condition think tey might fit, but will need to confirm! did yours have the exup in?

The Genesis isn't an exup bike so it's a fairly straight forward thing ... you can get stainless downpipes from the bay Sandy Bike Spares or Preditor (in Letchworth).
The 3en1 pipes will probably fit but you'll need to either remove the exup valve or wire it open. The way the pipes join the at the bottom is different so I can't say if they're better or worse on performance.
