Hi all, have got a VGC NC23 tank to respray in the new year for my road/track bike, the rest of the bodywork is satin black & I wish the tank to be the same colour.

However...

I will have to lacquer the tank to protect against splotches forming if I drip any petrol on it, I would assume the tank would now have a gloss finish?

How would I get a satin-finish petrol proof tank??

I've got a matt black finish on my race bike, no lacqueur, just paint. Haven't had any problems with fuel on the tank (and I tend to spill it a lot!).

I guess you could lacquer it and then rub it down until you match the fairings though?

You can get satin laquer but like superlite ive painted tanks satin black in the past with no laquer and they've been fine.
