OK, so I've now got almost a complete NC24 in spares. However, I want a challenge and I want to build something unique but tasteful. I think a 400 engine will be a bit tame (plus the NC24 exhaust presents issues in the wallet department).

So give me some ideas guys?

What engines will physically fit into the 24 frame? Will an 893 or 918 Blade engine fit? Or am I better looking for a V configuration engine?

Or what about a big single? - supermono stylee!!!

VTR1000 firestorm lump - not expensive & plenty of spares plus, its a honda!

I doubt you'll get a in-line 4 in the V4 frame.

Will the SV100 or VTR lump fit in the NC30, if so is it a lot of work.

SV 650 lumps go but some have tried and gave up so it cant be that easy, any engine that will physically fit will work but thats just the start of it. I reckon if the SV100 or VTR lump fitted you would end up with the fuel tank under the seat. It would then most likely shake itself to a slow death with questionable handling

If it were me id go, SP1 frame, VFR800 engine, RC45 bodywork. Job done

I'm thinking I may be adventurous here and try building a reverse trike, Can-Am style, seeing as I have the rear end all sorted. Plus a reverse trike is more stable anyway.

I'm thinking along the lines of an Africa Twin or Yammie Virago 535 or 750 lump.

Think I'll be scrapping the other engine idea having looked to see what they are selling for

I might just use the spare 400 lump I've got. I also thought, to get around the exhaust issue with the 24, that I would greate a 4x 1-1 system with the rear two exiting the rear seat cowl, RD500 styleeeeeee

For a trike or something the 24 frame would be ok, especially if it's knocking around doing nothing.

Something i'd like to do given enough time would be a HRC 24 engine in a 35 frame with the HRC exh system (remade in TI not mild-steel) would be pretty awesome.

It'd kick out circa 75hp, have decent gearing and have the tyre / frame / forks advantage of the later NC's :)



From this with crossply and bouncy 37mm forks and sliding calipers



To this with 17" radials, 4 pot calipers and 41mm forks.

Even without the power increase the laptimes would come down..

Plus it'd be quite unique

Done well in a decent retro scheme

Then throw loads of money at it getting it to 80's spec (85bhp, 113kg)
