Put LED indicators on and all come on at same time, weird...
Hi there me again......
Ok well my bikes indicators werent working correctly so I though I would put led ones on but now which ever way I turn the indicator switch all 4 just light up......
I have ordered one of these led flasher relays as I expected them to flash fast but not all come on like bloody hazard lights... Any ideas or will a new flasher realy cure it?
I definitely put all wires back in correct wiring loom wires etc...... Really confused.... Any ideas guys or wait till new realy turns up and see what happens then.

I presume the bike is a Jap import? You haven't connected the positive wires to the running light looms have you?

Right, Jap spec. The indicator bulbs would have had two filaments, similar to tail/brake but both the same wattage. The holders should have three wires - one earth, one running light and one indicator.
Usually, the earth will be green or black.
The running light wire and indicator wires are usually the same colour per side (for example; orange = left and blue = right) The difference between circuits is usually a white stripe on the insulation.
It's a long time since I last messed with an FZR400 and IIRC, on my 1WG the striped wires were the running light circuit, the plain colours for the indicators.

Thanks for the info mate but they def only had 2 wires from each indicator. It was funny though because when I changed the 2 front indicators they all worked correctly even flashed at correct rate.... Then when I did the back ones thats when all 4 just came on at the same time.... Strange..... Will try relay but after that a bit stumped.....

Ok then. Sounds like an issue with the feed to the rear. It could be that the running light loom has been cut out and a previous botch up been made.
Try disconnecting the positive indicator wire from the rear loom on each side and running a new wire from the positive at the front directly to the rear and connecting to that. As a TEMPORARY connection to test if this works, you can use ScotchLoks but I would recommend making a proper termination if this solves the problem.
You will be using the front circuits to run the rears as well but with LEDs overloading isn't an issue.

Give your relay a tap or better still swap for a known good one!

Ok - why weren't the original indicators working ??? Did you have one that didn't light up - that could have just been a bulb.spadey99 wrote:Hi there me again......

LED indicators have a lower resistance to bulbs so the bulb relay doesn't work with them. If only one of the originals didn't work then refit them (just plug them in but you don't need to scew them up. Now wire in the one led where the original bulb doesn't work and see what happens.
It's only the USA ones that have running lights. It doesn't matter which way round you connect the wires to an indicator either.

Ok so the indicator left rear wasnt working originally, bulb was ok but flasher stuck and clicked like it wouldnt move onto the flash part but right ones both worked ok. Plugged front led ones in and they all flashed correctly, front and rear. Unplugged back ones and the all come on, all four but dont flash either.
I have a new led relay arriving tomorrow so will put that on but the thing with the bulbs in the back of the clocks I seem to remember doing that on an old bike of mine and it working....... Will try new relay and report back tmrw guys.
Like I said though the problem cam about when the back ones were put on,,,,,
