Hi there
bought a 3tj as none starter and I think its the stator, when I bought it the guy warmed the stator up with a fan and it started but when cold wont start.... Is this common?
Could it be anything else?
Any tips,help is appreciated.
Also is it a big job to change it?
Steve

It could be the heat is causing a break in the wires to expand and close up. I've had this happen on a bike I had, except in reverse- the heat would cause the stator to break down. I have a spare stator if you need one.

I think what happens is the heat causes the wires to expand, closing up any break that might be there when the wires are cold, allowing current to flow through the wires. I'm no electrician though (clearly!)
They're pretty easy to swap, just take your time and don't lose any of the bits you take out!
How does £20, posted, sound? I'll get a pic of it tomorrow for you, once I can get into the shed.
