When i bought the bike a few months ago the tyres were new but now there squared off so need replacement.

at the moment im running on Pirelli MTR 02 160/60 17 69H, no idea what any of this means though, this is for the rear wheel.

anyway what should i replace it with? im usually just using the bike for commuting but also for wee blasts around the countryside every once in a while.

What sort of riding do you do and how much mileage do you want from the tyres?

Do you want excellent grip or longevity (you can't have both!)?

There are several good choices, a lot of it comes down to personal preference. I'd rather have good grip over mileage any day of the week, but it's you that will be paying for them, and grippy tyres can wear out quick.

Your 17" rear also gives you more options that the VFR's 18" rear.

i'd probobly go for extra grip, i rarely ever use the motorway, my commute is less than 2 miles each way so shouldnt wear down the tyres too much.

so far iv'e only had that set of tyres on it so was wondering what are good make of tyres to use and has really good grip.

BT090's are the dogs danglies for grip but may not last that long on the commute.

try the GPR alpha 10s think they should tick the boxes for you. be aware also that standardsizes are 120-60-17 and 150-60-17 :D

Aren't the GPR Alpha-10's meant to be even less durable than the BT090's? We're thinking about getting some but then again our road NC35 isn't being used to commute[1]!

They are cheaper though.

what about BT92's ? dual compound, perfect for commuting with weekend blasts and the occasional track day.. will last far longer than 090's which in turn last longer than alpha 10's (in my experience, on my zxr's)

alpha 10's are ace though. :D

what about part worn supercorsa's???

the centre will hardly be touched and they will be cheap, beats squaring off new tyres.

am sure a racer on here will have some up for grabs if you ask

I have been pretty thrilled with Pilot Powers on mine. Before I got a flat, they were lasting forever and warm up pretty quickly.

I do commute on mine, however, every day after work I take an 80 mile ride through some pretty good corners, so they are wearing pretty normal for me with no flat spots.

BT014's would also be a good compromise if you want decent grip but longer life than the the BT090's.

Anyone tried the new BT016?
