my radiator fins are on the sad side of dis-repair, the radiator is sound, and doesnt leak, its the fins are bent, missing, twisted, and look bad.
any ideas where to get sorted, one company quoted £250 for a refin and recore, the core is fine but they have to recore it, to refin it, so they say? something about stacking the fins!
is there any alternative, and is the RRSP radiator different to the RR?
are the fins available to do it myself, was thinking of getting a car radiator from the scrapyard, and refinning it my self, is this possible! fiddley but possible??

I haven't heard of anybody doing it themselves.
BDK advertise a radiator for their ram air duct at £195 ... not sure if that's a current price

You can use a std RR rad to run the SP engine but not certain about racing with one. The ZXR400 rad can be made to fit and has more cooling capacity.

I've run 3en1 and 3tj rr on track with no problems of overheating on the standard rad. Only problem could be if sat at idle because of a delayed start on a hot day, once moving seems to be fine! then again it's not exactly been warm when ive been on track!

check out these,
called radiator fin comb/cleaner, you can also get bike specific tools from flebay
http://www.diytools.co.uk/diy/Main/sp-7 ... er-kit.asp
gotta be cheaper than a new rad or you could just make one, all you really gotta do is re-shape the fins, if you got some missing it won't hurt as long as it's not to many, take the rad off soak in hot soapy water leave overnight, then clean, it helps if you got an air line but not essential, an old tooth brush will do, it take time but it's cheep.
i think they call it character building
edit: grind down the handle of said tooth brush to use as your fin straitening tool

My FZR heat up quickly too! Had to rest 3x within 75 mins riding. I read switching to 600cc radiator should resolve the issue, probably won't be a perfect fit and might need some welding. Also I m definitely thinking of adding a manual fan switch

FZRs and Yamaha's tend to do that. Here in the UK there isn't a problem with them, you have to remember the thermostat will need to open then the coolant moves around the system. If your bike boils and overheats (not just gets hot on the temp gauge) then there's a problem, you need to make sure the thermostat is working (or just renew it) and check the water pump is pumping, then check the fan comes on.
Generally the engines and standard systems work well, if they don't then look to repair them. A manual switch isn't a solution, it only masks the real problem.
