76a Neutral light always on

My neutral light is always on. Been given a few steers as to where the problem might be, I have looked in front of the front sprocket. No trapped wires, looked for a diode on the n/s tail section of the wiring loom, couldn't see it. The light is slightly brighter when I put the bike in neutral but that is only because I am used to it. A few times I have come home after a ride and the light is off when I pull into the drive, then the light goes on as it should. Not sure if it has gone off at some point earlier and I haven't noticed, soon as I kill the ignition and switch it on again I'm back to it always being on. Did a search on the forum but could only find the reference to it being killed when the bike is de-restricted with a mod. Any ideas people?

Sounds like a dodgy neutral switch on the gearbox. It may just be a bad connection or it may be the switch is fubar. It should be a screw-in thing on the box somewhere.

Anybody know 'where' exactly?

OK, scrub that, know where it is now. Mechanics all seem fine with selector, must be the switch, have cleaned all the contacts. On another note, I had to take the clutch cover off. 3 of the 4 bearings are missing in the cable pull. Does anybody have or know what size they are? Or what I can rob them out of? Might as well hoover the bits and pieces up while I'm there.
