GK76a no fuel

Hi, i've got a gk76a gsxr400.

I've bought a set of o rings from variablevalves suck off ebay, fitted them today (aside from one mixture screw as its rounded off) and refitted the carbs but im still not getting any fuel through (plugs are dry). I cleaned all the jet's and carb's as they were a little gunked up from dried fuel but im unsure whats wrong with it now.

Im considering breaking it for spares if i cant get it going soon as its cost me a small fortune since buying it as a non runner and fitting a new CDI, Coil pickup, wiring loom and lockset.

Any suggestions?

Hi Tony,
Start at the tap and work down- does the tap flow fuel, are the pipes connected correct,is there fuel in the bowls, is the choke working, if these are good it will be the pilot system so check this over-jets, screws and setting of screws. Its usually the smallest of things- i remember rebuilding my carbs twice to suddenly the penny dropped, id never connected the vacuum pipe! it will never happen again.

Hi,
On the tank, the lowest pipe on the tap is dribbling fuel on disconnecting the pipes, thats connected to the shorter of the two hoses on the carb's. The pipe next to the smallest (vacuum) pipe, is that the fuel in or reserve?
There's also a pipe on the right side of the underside of the tank as you sit on the bike but no hose to connect to the engine/carb's?

Off the top of my head I think that outlet on the right is the overflow from the filler intake. IIRC I have a hose that goes down the right of the engine and drips the overflow to the ground.

From memory:
My tap has, I think, 2 fuel outlets, one facing forward, one facing aft. They run to 2 hoses headed for the carbs. The vacuum is a smaller connector, facing down.

I had a similar issue recently, plenty of mucking about with the tap, just turning it from reserve to prime to main and trying to get it running in all positions finally got it alive. In my case it didn't seem to want to start on main but eventually sucked the juice through on reserve. Then reserve started being temperamental and switching to main stopped the stutters (the bike was running). I suspect I have some gunk in there.

You *do* have juice in the tank?

When i got the bike, the tank had a bit oif petrol left in which had been sitting for godknows how long.
I cleaned the tank out with fresh petrol then removed tap to check it waas clean and not blocked, all ok. I then put £5 of petrol in prior to turning the engine over.

Earlier today i put the tap (tank off the bike) into the prime position and nothing comes out the tank? Only a dribble comes out when turned into the on position. Only thing i can think is the tap's faulty?

i would try removing the whole tap from the tank check the filter mesh isnt blocked if that looks ok you can split
the tap 1xbolt inside tap handle 2xbolt 1by prime 1 by reserve 4xbolts at the back for the vacum switch

Thanks for all the help you guys have given me. I've decicded to break the bike as i dont have the time to keep messing about and not getting anywhere with it, with the money if i get enough i hope to get a bandit 600 or similar. Thanks again
