Changing 1WG engine - any things to watch out for?

Okay, so I have managed to secure a replacement motor (3EN2) for my 3EN1 and when it arrives I'll be replacing it... are there any particularly fiddly things I need to wary of when I get stuck in at all?

Cheers

Take the fuel tap lever off and put it somewhere safe. Check if you need new airbox rubbers. Charge the battery.

It's a straightforward job and you get through it in a day as long as all the engine mounts undo.
Get hold of a couple of bicycle packing case boxes cut them open and lay them on the floor so you can work on the carboard. Wash the bike before you start

Thanks for that, very useful to know... although I actually need to get a new fuel tap knob anyway so no chance of losing it :D

How heavy is the motor approximately out of interest?

Cheers

I can just lift the engine by myself. But its advisable to have a mate there when putting the new engine in. It's very fiddely on your own. Possible, but very fiddely.

If you on your own take the bosyrk off the bike and lay it on it's side on the floor (cardboard) now lay the engine up to the frame and jiggle it to position. Drop the mounting bolts in (try and get the gearbox and one top omunt in) Now stand the bike up and your there.

One man job

Great tip, that sounds spot on, hoping to have a go at it this weekend if time permits. Many thanks!
