Hey there everyone, I'm a new owner of an abused 90 GK76A. I'd like to first say you guys are a wealth of info as I've been pouring over pasts posts. I'm in the U S where info non existent, thank God for the internet. My bike sat in storage for over 3 years-with gas in the carbs. My questions are as follows.


1. Are the carbs beyond salvage? I've never had to clean up a set so any advice would be appreciated. I've read up on all the washers that need to be replaced so I am aware of that.

2. Are the GSF400 Bandit carbs a straight swap? They are BTS32's and the model numbers match before the model code but I've never found a model name for the GSXR's carbs.


3. I'm noticing several cut wires. Can anyone give advice as to what they are? The excellent soldering job and the two wires coming off are leftovers from some really cool blinking lights that were installed and I've already ripped off.


Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'm sure I'll be on here regularly with lots of questions.

Hello and good luck with the bike.
The carbs are slightly different as the B4 are same as the gk73a in that they have a caged float style float holder. The 76a has the post type that you fit into the middle.
The pilot jets are different size as is main and needle size.
The carbs will be ok for a good clean, if you have the money then sonic cleaning would leave them like new.

Ok, can make out exactly witch wires are in the pic so these are the wires in the vicinity. The black/white with the lug is a ground for the thermostat housing. The black/white and black/brown are for rad fan, the black/green is for the coolant temp sensor, and black/yellow is for the coil.

Haha I wish, i meant can't not can. My bike has the tank off at the moment, so took a look at the wires in the circled areas.

Silbeer, any chance you could snap a picture or two of how those wires should be correctly connected if you still have your tank off? I checked mine again and the two large black wires connecting to the soldering glob are the radiator fans.

Yeah no problem, just gotta charge my camera batt. Also let me know the wire colors you have n I'll get some close ups for you.
