1996 GK76A mikuni carb model ?

Post by Karen-Ann »

Hi hunny's , had my 76a with 33bhp restriction washers on a power run with a local dynojet tuner and the guy that done the run says the bike is running dangerously lean on fuelling and could burn my valves or pistons out, resulting in a new engine!!! He advised a few things but nothing crystal clear on how to solve the problem..The dyno chart shows it is fuelling correctly from idle to approx 3500 rpm , from 3500 rpm to 8000 rpm it is way out on the graph (under fuelling ). I'll try to get the chart on after i fathem out on how to post it up! Blonde moment!!

Anyhow, the guy at dynojet suggested i get some bigger main jets, he could not find any data in his dynojet book about what size of standard mikuni carb main jets were in as standard so he based it on a GSF 400 mikuni carbs with 100 main jets, so he suggested uprating to 130 on my GK76A......Thing is I cant find any model numbers on my GK76A carbs and if i call a mikuni dealer he will want a carb model number to match some jets up!

Can any of you guys advise me?

Hi Karen, as far as I know the carbs are Mikuni BST 32 type, I would hang about for some advice from stripe or someone more kwoledgeable on this before going out and getting bigger main jets though.

If its lean in that part of the rev range raise the needles! 33hp restricted and needing bigger mains? Hell my 80+ hp engine is using something close to 130's.
What is the fueling doing at higher revs? 8k plus?
