Sorry with work, flying and other commitments not had much time to post on here for some time, but as im on holiday now i have found some spare time.
Did a trackday last week on the 3tj hybrid. Made a few repairs before going on track and it completely transformed the bike.
Firstly as the last 2 trackdays ended in me rapidly exiting the track onto the grass at cadwell (100 mph at coppice and bumped off the track by someone stuffing up the inside at charlies 2) the fork seals started to leak. So the forks came out for a reseal.
As the forks were out i took the opportunity to have a look at my front calipers. I had noticed a slight binding. Indeed it turned out that some of the pistons were sticking in the calipers. As i had left this until sunday night(and the trackday was on tuesday) i soon realised it was maybe a bad idea completely stripping the calipers! So in desperation i removed the complete braking system from my road bike which i had previously overhauled. Standard calipers and master cylinder, braded hoses and EBC HH pads. All worked well on the road. I also foud that the handle bar was slightly bent (knocked the bike over outside the garage cleaning it) so i took the opportunity to heat and straighten it.
To my relief by 2 am the bike was back in one piece and ready for the track.
On track the bike was superb, my labours were indeed harvested! The suspension worked better than used to but the brakes were superb. There is a lot to be gained from a thorough brake overhaul as the brakes are now equal to the brembos fitted to my RSV! The bike feels alive again, all front end vagueness gone and able to brake deeper into bends with the forks sorting the extra stress!!
So in short a great time was had, look out for me in PB again!
