GK73A Cleaning The Frame

How should I clean the entire frame body? I am not sure what will damage it etc.. I have stripped the bike and want to get the best look from the frame as possible, cheers.

Are we talking clean as in get all the old grime & road dirt off? If so Gunk or other water-soluble degreasant would be best suited, spray on, rub into all the Uber-ming bits and wash off in 10 mins, sorted! I would advise the use of ACF-50 or Scottoiler's FS365 to protect the frame from further corrosion as it will have now lost its protective layer of dirt & grease etc...

Hi, yes it is just a simple cleaning of the frame, i.e. get all of the gunk off :). I used Gunk as I had some in the shed and it did a great job. Just I would like a superb shine... what would be the best way to get this shine? Would autosol be okay, or is this a nono?

Autosol would eventually bring your frame up to a high polish, but you would probably end up with Popeye-like forearms and/or a repetitive strain injury...

Best to remove any paint or lacquer from your frame rails with either paint stripper or wet&dry paper, then using progressively finer grades of wet&dry bring the bare alloy up to a smooth surface. Use alloy polishing mops & the relevant soap bars in a drill or bench grinder to finish the job, kits are available from you local bike shop for around £30? Videos are on Youtube etc of people doing this?
