Why the hell my NC30 won`t start again

Right I bought my bike about a year ago, haven`t ridden it yet,but I started the bike weekly to make sure it starts and to hear the v4 growl, about 3 months ago it would not start,(i fitted the restrictors for some reason)changed the plugs it fired straight away,I noticed the rectifier plugs are melted and the reg/rec is smokey if revved over 10k,from about a month ago the bike would start straight away, run for few minutes until the rec/reg would get warm/hot,today tried to start the bike,it started but died the next second, after that it felt like it was trying to start but it didn`t,and now it just turns over.
The plugs are brand new, have very strong spark, there is compression and there is fuel.
Could it be the fu**ed reg/rec,and also could this be the reason the bike wouldn`t rev properly?
I`m gutted, please can anyone point me in the right direction?
Any suggestions will be really helpful.
Thank you
Regards Eddie

Do u know if there is fuel getting to the engine?
Maybe your carbs need cleaning

If you can smell petrol sounds like you've flooded the engine.

It's not going to run right with a broken reg/rec anyway so you need to do a full test of the electrical system and diagnose genny / battery / reg-rec and replace as appropriate.

How are you trying to start it? Should be using full choke no throttle at all until its running...

Get the reg/rec changed first, also not sure how true this is but ive heard its not a good idea to start these bikes and and leave them to idle time and time again without riding it. Ive had engines out for months on end and not once had trouble getting them going again.

If the Reg/rec is fecked then you have probably blown your main fuse too (30A) at the starter relay.

:plus:

I try full choke till it catches, then half choke as soon as it starts, leave it for a min, then turn the choke off and gently rev it.

The main fuse is fine, carbs are clean, but now it doesn`t even try to start,it just turns over, tried everything except changing the reg/rec because I have no funds, but it should start though with it broken?
There is fuel, there is compression(loads),and there is spark? What the hell is missing?
