Well, i have had my NC30 for about 4 months now and everything has been fine and dandy (with the exception of a water hose bursting and the common reg/rec fault)
Today i thought i would have a little look under the tank again and to my surprise i that the fuel vacum hose had a massive split down it's length.

Before noticing this the power and pick up of this little 400 seemed adequate for my needs, low and behold replacing the above mentioned hose, she now picks up as well as my 2005 zx6r in first and 2nd gear :)

I have read that some guys run their bikes WITHOUT VACUUM and run with, the benefits of both would be?

To run without the vacume hose you need to HRC mod the fuel to basically make it free flowing. Only really worth doing on track/race bikes with something like a dry break fuel line to completely cut off the fuel when the bikes not running.
HRC modded taps on road bikes have been known to kill engines from being flooded with fuel.

Yep, happy running my engine as close to standard as i can :)
Just wondered if a missing / knackered vacuum hose has caused anyone else some serious lack of low down grunt, or did i just get lucky and something on the bike started working at the same time i replaced the vacuum hose :D

Karl, I think it has caused many problems on many bikes over the years!

It's the reason behind many replies to performance issues being to "replace the fuel vacuum hose" regardless of some symptoms. It can give a lot of grief and damage to the hose is not always easily visible.

I was replacing the fuel hoses and others under the tank and noticed that this one was FUBAR'd replaced it and woo hooo, I will go and get the fueling checked this weekend now that this hose has been replaced :)
