Hey all, just taken the old plugs out and they were looking pretty manky. The inner right cylinder plug had a bit of water ingress to so that cant of helped.

Anyway. The plugs I removed were CR9EK's and after doing a bit of digging about I can't really pinpoint if these are the right ones?

I've heard CR8EK's are fine too, however i'll be fitting iridium ones so either CR8EIX or CR9EIX?

Any ideas?

Luckily i had a couple of CR8EIX's knocking about as they are the same plugs I use on my Minitwin.... unfortunately they only come in 2's on a twin

Ordered 2 more.

Hopefully it will help the old girl burst into life.

So how come there is so much split opinion and information on the plugs for these bikes?

suzuki state an 8 and a certain importer that has gone belly up did a data sheet with 9 on. Unfortunately it didn't help they hadn't a clue. I phoned them to question it and was told run the hotter 9 but a 9 is colder. HTH

sorry spark plugs confuse me. What do you mean when you say the plug is "too cold"? and what problems will this give? as i am running 9's in my bike.

a plugs heat range can have effects on timing and influence the way the mixture burns. If for example you have o-ring issues it will highlight this more and can cause even worse running. At worst it can accelerate bore wear as all the fuel doesn't burn and the fuel washes the oil from the bore (worst case).

If you got signs of water damage its worth checking the water drain hole is clear. It runs from the front of the plug hole to around the exhaust at the front.
