Rear Disc change

Guys, I spoke to a mechanic at the weekend and he told me it's a big job to change a rear disc. It looks pretty simple to me, but is it? The last mechanic that worked on my bike still has my Haines manual so I can't refer to that til the new one arrives.

Sorry but you spoke to a mechanic that was a plank, did he take a sharp intake of air through clenched teeth before he gave you an answer? It is a relatively easy job to do

Couple of hours work, couple of cups of tea, and a piece of cake.

i only have the actual manual mate...cant scan it as i dont have camera..
it reads a bit like this.
remove rear wheel hub and assembly....
put new disc on
put rear hub assembly back together and torque it all up..
it says to remove hub ass..
remove wheel nut cap
discard split pin
unscrew wheel nut using rear brake to stop wheel turning
with wheel off
unstake hub nut on left hand side
get someone to apply rear brake hard and unscrew hub nut. it will be tight!
removespring washer & thrust washer from behins nut
discard nut as new one should be used
remove brake caliper and suspend so it aint left hanging
slacken bearing holder pinch bolt and turn the holder to loosen the chain using the pin spanner tool..C Spanner?
take chain off rear sprocket and pull sprocket off of the hub ass..
from what i can see from the haynes, you should have access to the disc now...
it looks fairly easy with pics helping! .. but even i would attempt it, and thats saying something!
i hope this helps a little....

did my hub the other day, not too tricky at all. hardest bit was getting the LH nut undone. a breaker bar did the trick (after removing the dent on the nut of course). an abba stand or similar a good idea as a rear hub paddock stand would be in the way.
