Ok, for the track bike i've no use of the side stand switch. If i remove it then i'll need to do something to the wiring, right?

Is it just a simple case of joining the two wires together to complete the circuit?

if the switch is closed when the stand is up then all you need do is join the wires of the switch so the bike registers it as in the up position all of the time.

Ok, makes sense

When the stand is up, the sticky out bit (very technical term that!) is out, does that mean that the switch is open or closed (i'm guessing its closed)?

Just join the two together
