Need help with the Idle adjuster

Post by theoutsider »

Well my bike won`t start because of the plugs, but I have played so much with the idle adjuster I don`t know how much it should be screwed in.Also I took it off,now it`s back in.I`m buying a set of spark plugs pretty soon and want to know how I can set the idle adjuster with the engine turned off because I don`t want to ruin another set of plugs.Let me know

You can't ruin the plugs with the idle adjuster. :)

If you have it in too much the engine will jus tidle really high

If you have it in not enough the engine won't idle at all.

It just controls the speed.

Too much coke will kill the plugs.

you can't se the idle adjuster with the eninge off.. but you can gt it roughtly right... screw it in a few turns until you see it make contact with the butterfly linkeage (the thing that the throttle cables turn) and then screw it in a couple of more turns :)

That'd be the least of your worries! Each to their own I guess ;)

The easiest way to set the idle adjuster is to start the bike up. But if you must do it while it's not running, then just wind it so about 5 mm of thread is showing for a starting point.
