GK76A, not starting.. can anyone help??

I've had my bike 6 years & have gone through all the usual problems but recently the engine went bang and had to replace it. I stripped it down, replaced the engine, put everything back & treated it to new plugs, chain & sprockets etc while i was there but now I've now finished, it wont start

To start with it was getting spark but it was fuelling wrong so i had the carbs re-balanced but now im getting no spark at all. I cant imagine both coils have gone simultaniously & all wiring is fine so any ideas what could be causing it??

The only things i have found on the forums so far is the CDI unit could of blown. Any ideas what it could be or if there is a way to test the CDI???

have you put the coils back on in the correct order?

check the timing rotor is the same as the one that was on the other engine

Yep all the leads are definately going to the correct plugs :)

AND

No I havent checked that as to be honest, i dont know what or where that is lol. Is it the bit behind the left engine casing?? Is that the thing that denotes when the engine should spark or something like that?? If not, where is it and how do i check it??

yes mate left side case. There are 2 types. Also check the resistance of the pick up while your at it. Check stupid things like the kill switch. You'd be suprised how easy it is to knock it and then spend ages trying to start it. And yes i have done it! Lol

I checked the kill switch & it aint that, wudnt of suprised me if i had of done tho lol.

I'll check the pick up after dinner or in the morning and see whats happening. I cant check the resistance as i hant got a meter & dont know anyone who has one. I still have the old engine i took out so if this pick ups dead then il try the other one and see what happens.

Hopefully that will solve it, will post either way so if it doesnt then il be pickin ya brains again lol.

if you need your cdi testing i have everything here to do it for you. definately cheaper than having to buy another to cdi

This may sound really stupid but im not entirely sure what im looking at when im looking for the pick up lol.

I've taken off the left engine case, this is what is behind it:



Assuming that is what i am supposed to be seeing at this point, is the pick up behind the large cog?? and if it isn't wat im supposed to be looking at then where actually is it lol.

WOW that is possibly the most stupid thing i've ever asked lol, its in the case that was in my hand as i took the picture hahaha.. wat a numpty!!!

well the pick up looks ok altho not sure how you tell if its not working?? I better check the wiring that goes back while im at it, I havent checked that particular cable as it goes under the battery holder & dint realise it was there.

Fingers crossed its not connected!!!

The timing rotor, as stripes said could be different, that's the round thing with different shaped fingers on
Worth checking whilst you've got one casing off.
The wire for the pick up needs to feed right back up the subframe just past the battery and slots into the loom somewhere there, hope i haven't posted this too late before you've spent hours looking for it.
