i have a post up in the main general section fella askiing were peps get their exhaust spares , ithink AA16 was mentioned, i used them before to get spares but thought somewhere like ebay would be cheaper to use, not the case this time, all you'll need is rivets and packing, both available through AA16.

Iv recently done this to both my cans and was wondering is it better (quieter) to have the packing wound tight round the perf tube or a bit more loose, I did mine really tight so I could get as much packing in the cans as pos as its a ss400 bike and needs to comfirm to a 98db noise limit

As far as I know it needs to be a bit loose, but I'm sure someone will confirm this...

yep, I'll confirm this. The packing needs to be wounded tight around the perforated tube in order to perform accordingly. Loose packing means that there is possible play of the packing and that is not what you want to have in all cases that the end can is fitted on your bike and in use with running engine (this may affect the noise emission, and also the packing will wear out too early hence sooner repacking again). Hope this helps.

Have my data checked during my visits at Superpole (a dutch local manufacturer of exhaust cans and systems).

By the way...regular uses packing material is interwoven fiberglass...but superpole now uses long strand fiberglass which has the main advantage that is has an higher strength hence lower wear/more durability :peace:
