Found (ANOTHER) RVF on ebay

Post by Christoph »

After my last disasterous purchase on ebay (NC24), I've now found a cheap RVF.

Ok so alarm bells are already ringing because it's cheap. Obviously it has been dropped at some point, that doesnt really bother me too much, I would be more worried about it being a stolen bike or whatever.

Anyway, have a look and tell me what u think.

Cheers!

I thought about buying that too restore and sell on but just don't have the space right now. I'd be looking to offer £1000 for it, £1250 tops but if your buying it for keeps £1500 ain't a bad price.

is currently showing SORN on the dvla.gov enquiries - he only has small green slip of V5 so he has not long had it in theory.

he is stating first reg 11 may 1998 - matches dvla records.

he says not been down the down just dropped, but looks to have had crush bungs fitted, looking at the right hand side picture ( fairing looks to have been cut - but no bungs )

does need some real money spending in my option to look her best, but more than anything else....if he cannot be bothered to type correctly when advertising a vehicle i would never buy it - to sell a vehicle you are selling yourself as well and doesn't look good personally.

with out going to view it & the seller, you will never really know. I took a chance on mine being a non runner when i had her ( but she cost £200 - you have a lot more to loose )

That's been smashed right up, fairings are all bust, tank is dented etc. If you cant tell that's been in a smash you need your eyes tested. lol. How do you dent the tank dropping it when its not moving ? Lying out his ass.

You would just be buying trouble, needs all new fairings and a tank at the very least. Needs £££££ spending on it.

Its cheap for a reason.

Avoid !!

I totally disagree painless. Apart from the cracked nose cone its normal wear and tear, Yes the tank is dented, but how many tanks are mint??? i think you will find that all the damage is there to see, and its fairly honest!! If you can get it for less than 1400 i reckon its a bargain. Just clarify why he has only got the v5 slip, how long he has had it.

Go for it!!

I agree with pug...anyone that cannot write is a worry!

I would also want to know why he only has the slip and why, when it is an easy fix for MOT, that he has not MOT'd it? He must have just bought it and for some reason, he is not sharing, he no longer wants it.

I'd rather buy a nice '30 for 1200 quid.. 8-)

Also - the guy is a dealer or small time bike seller - so take the f.cking time to write a decent advert!!

It always puts me off when people 'carnt' even write properly, I assume they have very little self respect = little respect for anything else.

Can anyone find a clean RVF (in standard colours) for around £2k?, I'm in Norwich by the way.

Seen a couple more on ebay, the one with white wheels is in Newcastle, thats too far for me. The other has got 55km/miles - too high. And I believe the other one for £1950 was for sale on here but sold yesterday :(

Like Mark said, why not buy a NC30 for 1200-300 and spend 400-500 on a few bits!! And get it really mint with nice bits!! Your money will go a lot further!! you could even get a Tyga NC35 seat unit and spray it up if you prefer the rear of the NC35!

It works well!!

i did think this guy maybe a small time 'dealer' as he has sold one SUZIKI as he spells it a while ago, one trike / quad bike & one small combo style van that he said he used for a bit of diy.

someone who does a bit of light work & diy would not have the van boxed around the edges to store tools, in my opinion a general diy'er does not store tools in his van - or maybe thats just me.

christoph,

its your money and spend it how you will, if you can see past the fairings and other damaged bits then there could be a good little bike underneath. really wants viewing in person and getting a true idea of how she is.

cheap chinese fairing, sort the tank you would have a nice looking bike for not much money in theory. all depends on lies beneath, do you have the knowledge / confidence to repair the damage cosmetically........what if there was worse to come inside the beast?

i do not want to put you off buying something in anyway, again its your money. i bought my '30 knowing it was non-running, been in a field for around 4 years. i was prepared for a full strip down, rebuild if required. i knew this was a big project. ( i also had the blade to use, so i am in no rush )

do you want a bike you can buy, quick fix & use? if you do and you find there was more worse issues inside are you going to be stuck with a drain on your pocket along with waiting at the bus stop for the 8:15 to town each morning? or do you have another bike / car to use in the mean time?

no matter what anyone says its your money, spend it how you will.

I want a bike that won't give me hassle! Been there, done that. Just want a nice clean standard bike with no issues. :)
