Hi Guys,
Does anyone know the distance between the bottom of the front fork yoke and the top of the oil seal with the front wheel fully unloaded? I forgot to measure it before removing the old yokes and fitting the new 'special' ones!
many thanks...

I'm running dust seals, so I can't measure down to the oil seal. But I get 140 mm from the bottom of the bottom yoke to the top of the fork slider. My forks also protrude approx. 6 mm from my top yoke. How's your maths?
Should get you in the ballpark anyway.

Thanks Superlite,
Yes i meant dust seals..anyway i just wanted to be sure, unfortunately my new yokes only give me 105mm meaning when i put the anchors on in ernest the front wheel starts chattering cos the dust seals are hitting the bottom of the yokes.. This is with the fork stanchions flat on the top yoke.. and 120mm front wheel travel not much math to do really all confirmed with a good dose of front brake!!!

If your using 105mm of travel your springs are too soft surely ?

Yes maybe they are too soft, i rebuilt them a few years ago and replaced all the bushes as well as new Hagon progressive springs, stanchions, fresh oil, off the top of my head i don't remember the oil grade and air gap but it was what was recommended and i'm only 85kg ready to ride. The staic sag is 26mm and with max preload. I do have a Maxton shock in the rear that gives an extra 35mm of ride height. Maybe i need to have a look at the springs and check they are still in one piece. I do however live in the hills and the roads can be pretty bumpy. Although i would expect that from high speed braking the suspension should be being used to pretty much the max over a bumpy surface or not? The thing is i've lost nearly 20% of the travel. I guess i need to look at the springs and check they are OK.

Bumpy roads should use anything like max travel, what happens when you brake hard, they would top out skip all over the place.
That would be like riding a road drill. lol

The problem only occurs under hard braking from speed, all of the other times the front end feels good even at max lean mid corner.

Sorry, my post above should have read "Bumpy roads shouldn't use anything like max travel".
Does it feel like it is skipping when you brake hard from speed or do you just feel the bumps in the road more ?

bumpy roads are OK suspension is fine, cornering fine.., hard braking from high speed on bumpy roads cause the dust seals to touch the bottom of the non standard yokes. This causes the front wheel to chatter. i know they touch because i put a dab of paint on the top of the dust seal and when i stopped after a test there was paint on the bottom of the yoke. 8no room for a cable tie!
i suppose my question should be does anyone use anywhere near the full 120mm of front suspension travel available on the NC30?
