What make forks were you thinking of fitting,I have fitted ZXR400 forks to a 3JT.

RGV 250's have been used and ZXR636 have ben thought about.

You have to remember the wheel spindle and brake caliper spacing may well be different, the bars need to fit larger dia forks etc, so really your changing the front end and getting the steering stem pressed into the new yokes.
I don't really see you'll gain so much over a good RR SP set up.

I did toy with the idea of the TZR250R (3XV) usd's. Used the same stem and slotted straight in but the lockstop was on the opposite side of the yoke

Changed plans and never went through with it but i did do a trial fit and it is do-able. Getting hold of the bits will be the big issue though.......

i used these on my 3tj trackbike and they work really well for my limited track talents.

but evils right a well set up pair of 3tj ones work great and if im honest im not going any faster with the upside down forks.but im still on the look out for a good pair of tzr250 3xv forks for my other sp.if your going to put a set on try and find a pair that are nearly the same as the 3tj ones as the fairing stay limits how much fork leg you can put through the top yoke cos the 400s forks are quite short!

My bike had an RGV front end, but the forks have now been changed to GSXR400 (GK76a) items as they suit the weight of the bike better and are externally identical.



As with the TZR forks, the RGV yokes drop straight in using the same bearings but the lockstops are in the wrong place. You need the whole front end and preferably the GSXR400 wheel as it is a 3.5" rather than the RGVs 3".
Using ZX6R forks in the RGV/GSXR yokes is a known upgrade for those bikes, so as the yokes fit it should also work on the 3TJ!

I changed my forks as all of the forks I had needed some work or at least seals, so I took the plunge as I like the look of USD and it gave me the chance touse Hayabusa brakes...

Which year ZX6R ... I know the 636 .... ugly / pug looking had radial caliper mounts. I have to say, like the 3TJ SP's forks the standard calipers are ok for me with a radial master.

My thinking is that if a gixxer 400 front end fits then then '03 636 one should aswell?

That was the link I remember seeing.

Only thing to think about is the height of the headstock, 3TJ's are quite low so messure the forks up first, you might get the forks sticking through the yolks a long way if you keep the standard ones.

If anything, the front end of my bike is a little lower! The 3TJ has stepped yokes, so the fork leg can be shorter. The RGV/GSXR has a flat yoke, so the fork leg has to be longer to give the same height.
