NC30 front end vibration

Post by emto »

My front rim took a dink about a year back on a pothole but its barely noticable. Lately, once I'm up around 80mph I'm getting a bad vibration. (feels like the front wheel is a 50p piece). I replaced the bar ends I had on back to the originals as I was told the ones I had on weren't heavy enough, however the vibration is still there.
The steering bearings were done less than a year ago so its not them.
Could it just be that the front needs balancing?

Hmm, my SP1 front has a tiny 'dink' in it too, but there is no vibration at any speed (within the UK speed limits, obviously)
I'm guessing it's worse than you first thought to create any kind of vibration, I'd get it looked at. You must have hit the pot hole hard to damage the rim?! I clipped a car with mine!!

is it constant or does it go in cycles? Could be an unbalanced wheel, or something might be loose (mudgaurd rings making the mudguard vibrate)

Wheel out of balance would be my guess. If you're happy with the wheel as it is then just get it off and re balanced.
How hard can it be?

Thanks guys,

I'll get it off & have it balanced to start with.
By the way Matt, it was a hard wallop as it blew out my rear tyre and cracked the rear rim also.
