Right,
I'm looking for somewhere that might recore my radiators.....anybody had this done??
The only other option is dig deep into the pockets and buy some shiny new replacements, not sure how the prices would compare between the two options?!

I've been chasing the overheating gremlins for too long and have got to my wicks end - pretty much been through the whole cooling system testing and replacing parts

Any suggestions appreciated

Have you tried coolant system flush/scourer ?

Image

Im presuming the fan is controlled by the temp sender on the rad and the coolant temp you see on the dash is controlled by the temp sender mounted next to the thermostat.

If you have tried replacing the thermostat and the adjacent temp sender try removing the thermostat all together and see what happens. If it still runs hot you have a bad temp sender or the coolant system has air-locks or a bad build-up of scale and rust in it.

The flush might be the best first step if you have replaced everything. What exactly have you done and how does the problem manifest itself ?

would too be interested to hear what the actual overheating problem is. mine runs perfectly when moving at a reasonable speed but does start to cook itself in traffic / going slowly on a hot day. thought it was normal... is it?

I've pretty much been through the whole cooling system and replaced the temperature sensor in the rad, given the rads a real good clean, checked the thermostat in a pan of boiling water, checked the water pump and back flushed the system with a hose. Pretty sure I have no air locks etc aswell
I've never heard the fan running either, but know for a fact that it all works as this was tested by earthing it to see if the fan motor was still in working order....

Only when I'm riding the bike at speed will the temp run at about 90, as soon as I slow in traffic or idle for a while the temperature is going through the roof and it spits the coolant out in an overflow bottle I have mounted, major pain :x

This sounds like the temp switch is goosed.unplug the temp switch and put a piece of wire between the wires in the plug and check if the fan runs.if the fan runs then the switch is goosed.
