3tj suspension
right where to start, rear shock is shot as are the forks
options/advice please
rear shock
tdm goes strait in ?
06-07-08 r6 fits with new dog bones/spring which colour and why
rebuilt standard shock, i read a thread on the forum about this with a linc to the company, but cant find it now ?
forks
i'd like to keep the standard chappies, am up to 520ml of 10wt oil in em and there still saggy (how far can you go before you risk blowing the seals out) so new springs at least as mine are at the minimum 341mm, could go up to 15wt oil but i think i still need new springs, so which one's
rather a lot to answer but the more i get used to the bike the worse it seems, it handles like a bowl of blancmange, rather like me old k0 750 honda and i haven't even reached the edge of the tyre yet!!!

Re: 3tj suspension
Ok - first things first check the tyre pressures. Obviously it's not a magical fix but they do affect the handling more than you think.
The R6 shock is probably the best value as long as you can get a shock extension piece. You need the later shock and it seems prudent to change the spring.
Failing that you could get a new shock - I use an EMC one which was about £250 a while back and is reckoned to be better than a Hagon for the same price.
The forks will need new springs - I don't know who does them but they are out there somewhere. have a search round the forum to find out if theres still some set up guides around

dog-r6 shock with tj weight spring and tj shock adapter on e-bay item no 290428607612 just bolt in and go, all the hard work done.its 120 quid buy it now with 2 days left.gotta be worth that an 06/07/08 shock will cost 60-70 quid,be 40 quid to get someone to make up the adapter and 70 quid to put the right spring on-i reckon its a bargain at the buy it now-if you can get it for less well that would be like robbery!! and no its not mine!!

Re: 3tj suspension
It's the TRX one that should go straight in- 340mm long and fully adjustable.

Didn't want to self post about this but that's my shock in the ebay listing. Only taken off because I traded my tj in against my current bike.cagiva996 wrote:dog-r6 shock with tj weight spring and tj shock adapter on e-bay item no 290428607612 just bolt in and go, all the hard work done.its 120 quid buy it now with 2 days left.gotta be worth that an 06/07/08 shock will cost 60-70 quid,be 40 quid to get someone to make up the adapter and 70 quid to put the right spring on-i reckon its a bargain at the buy it now-if you can get it for less well that would be like robbery!! and no its not mine!!

Re: 3tj suspension
well that's the shock sorted cheers White2505,
The hagon springs look like the very kiddies £77.50 inc 1L of oil the maxton's are £80 +VAT with no oil but maxton say the springs are made to your weight the hagons seem to be universal it just states progressive springs, will it make a lot of difference having them made to my weight or will the hagons do just fine ? i might as well get it right first time
i think this project would still be in it's infancy if it wasn't for the advice and part's i've got from 400GB anyway enough
cheers chaps

Re: 3tj suspension
bump
help needed
hagon or maxton ?
i've been talking to both and the maxton's seem better by virtue of being made to measure linear springs and spacers rather than just a progressive spring to suit the bike, i'm just a bit concerned that if i get the hagon's there gonna spend most of there life at the end of there travel as i a bit of a lump 14ish st and i wont have achieved much, like i said up there i might as well get it right first time and an extra £25 now is better than doing it twice

I'd agree, if your going to get it then get something closer to your weight rather than a generic typeHogdigerdy Dog wrote:bump

Re: 3tj suspension
Go with Maxton. They are always on the end of the phone and are a great help come any problems. And they are a top shock on the track or on the roads.
