NC35 Another fuel starver :(

Hey, I got a slight problem with my NC35.
I only just bought the thing and its driving me NUTS!

It feels like it's being starved of fuel, you know that feeling when you have to switch to reserve...

Basically, If I leave the bike over night I can ride it a good 20km's before it happens.
Then when it does I have to wait atleast a good 10 mins before I can ride say another 4 - 5.

I already did the HRC fuel tap mod, But when I was pulling the tank off and the fuel tap was in the ON pos. it was only trickling out... when I switched it to RES it started pouring out, so I blew into it with the use of a hose in ON and it felt blocked, but in RES it was fine. So I put it back on to the bike, tried riding... But same problem!

All the bike electrics seem fine, That said, I havent checked them thoroughly... But I haven't noticed a change in the lights dimming, or say the Neutral light flickering :S

When I was pulling the tank off, the water drain pipe was literally filled with water, and when i blew into the 'assumed' breather hose (the larger of the two under neath the tank) water started pouring out of the water drain :S I dont know how the two are related but any help would be greatly appreciated... its making me mental.

fuel tank breather blocked. i know its a RVF but on the NC30 a trapped / crushed breather hose shows exactly the same syptoms. once it stops open the fuel cap and if you hear a whoosh or a sucking in then there you go, or open the cap and if it starts and rides again for a bit then that too will show the same result.
leave a spare key in the cap and open / close as needed to confirm.

why did you do the fuel tap mod / ruin your tap ?

i would put it back on a road bike, far more hassle than its worth

It was my first form of diagnosis lol.

I was reading on the internet and heaps of people were talking about the Tap mod.
Thought I would give it a try and see my results...

I did ignore the breather at first, but Im looking in other areas before I pull out the carbs.

*ps when I blew into the breather I blew into the top, on the end that would of been fitted to the tank.
Im wondering whether there would be a one way valve fitted in the tank, or in the line?

So... decided to pull the water drain and breather hoses out today to put some compressed air through to clear them it they were blocked and it turns out the idiot who owned the bike before me joined the breather and water drain hose together, at the ends the should be under the bike, with Electrical tape! :S
Dont know why... Perhaps he'll die.

Runs like a dream now *sigh*
