Hello guys!

I am having a huge problem I think. The bolts that connect the rearpipes to the rear manifold.

The nuts have rusted round, just round really, not to the bolt, so how the f*ck can I get these off without too much damage.

Are the bolts welded on to the manifold or is mine just a bad fix?

I am seriously out of ideas.

Lasse, the bolts are welded into the manifold at the head of the bolt, not completely around, just about 1/4 of the head of the bolt. The nuts are rusted "round" or "around"? You might have to apply some heat to get them loose. Soak them in penetrating oil for awhile also. Here is a pic of mine (off the bike)............

The nuts have rusted to a cone shape up around the bolt

They should be 12mm bolts so you might be able to force an 11mm socket on there. That's what I'd do, but you are gonna need to start taking more of the bike apart ie sub-frame and possibly the shock.

Yeah I feared that, I really don't want to pull that, seems like a mess to do.

Hi I had this problem about a month ago .I bought a set of Irwin bolt extractors ( off ebay about £18) which will get them off easy even if it is a rounded rusty mess and the more force turning it the tighter it goes on and cuts in to the nut .I used an air gun but it would have worked with a socket just as well .

How does it work?

They go on like a socket but are taperd with 6 edges which cut in to the nut and grip like hell .well good .

They look like an awesome addition to anyones tool kit..
