to buy? or not to buy.....

Afternoon all- need the opinions of the learned here...
been offered an ex-track NC30- in decent nick, few scratches on the can and side panels so obviously been over at some point- not too badly damaged though.
got aftermarket clip ons, rearsets, what looks to be an Ethos can and possibly half system, total loss ignition and SUPPOSEDLY... a race tuned engine. plus a spare set of wheels with brand new track tires
price?
£500.
had a quick look today and it looks quite tidy....
so the question is lads....
to buy? or not to buy....
any help will be most appreciated...
cheers!
Smoky

Buy. At £500 you can't go wrong. Ok it might need a bit spending on it but at £500 you can't lose.

problem is.. i dont have a garage... i do all of my work al fresco...
which is posh for: on the pavement outside my block of flats lol

ill probly strip it down, box up what i want/can keep and flog on the rest.
obviously you guys get dibs as id like to see the bits go to a good home.

will also need your help in identifying this "race tuned engine"
ill admit here- i havent the foggyest idea what parts im looking for in there, can just about manage my valve clearances without losing the plot

update.....
Image

this is her- (better quality pics on wednesday)
gonna be bringing her home on Saturday hopefully.
problem is... ive nowhere to strip her down- no abba stand, and just one pair of (rather in-experienced) hands.

ideally ill need her in bits so i can stash away the parts i want to keep and flog on the rest... is it a mission reducing an NC30 to boxable parts?

the alternative is: the breakers that have it at the moment have said that for £50-75 (depending on time) theyll split it into three bits for me- front end, rear end, and frame/engine.

i thought this was a little pricey for a minor strip down.... especially since they said theyd "put the young guy on it"
dont like the sound of some ham-fisted teenager brutalising my new ride....
any thoughts gents?

oh, also- once all the parts are ready for sale, of course forum members get first dibs- so if you need anything, just flick me a PM.
cheers all!
Smoky.

does it have ram air cant see from pic and did u ask the guy how much bhp it was running as its supose to be a race tuned engine ? but otherwise is suspension standerd ?

best thing you can do is get the handerling rite on an nc30 spend £200 on a better shock and set for your weight and get fronts done also springs etc and then get set up rite for yourself,

remove all what isnt needed for road bike if already hasent been done and go from there really

dont think it has ram air- probly would have noticed that :-)

unfortunately- theres no history on the engine.
like, at all... guy im buying it from said its to be sold as spares only...

suspension looks standard- although ive not had a chance to invesigate properly...

not gonna be riding it- am just after the parts
hopefully the sale of the extra bits will finance some new fork internals for my road NC30 :-)
cheers Dave!
