Ram Air Scoops I need pics....

to cut a long story short I have a scoop on my 29 that involved me lowering the RAD, however I want to fit a NSR Radiator as it has twice the surface area and is curved and I have a spare so it makes it a good upgrade.

now my problem is if I mod the rad to allow for the scoop I recon that the wheel will hit the rad under heavy braking (which is generally what happens on track lol)

this is my sscoop:

now I believe there is a ram air scoop which goes around either side of the headstock meaning you have to cut a slot in the front fairing...anyone got any pics of this particular scoop or details of where to buy.

Thanks

Cut an inch out of the top of the rad to fit around the scoop. I cant see that affecting coolng capacity that much, not sure how you'd do it and seal it back up but ive seen it done many times. Im guessing you'd need to ally weld it back up.

it seems to be more common on the zxr to go through the headstock and cut a hole in the nose cone so maybe have a look on there.

the problem with this is that there is almost NO steering angle on full lock not that this is a great concern when on the track its just something to consider

looking at your rad mine would be about that low down,

can I ask what headers they are? and what rad please?

Do you have any issues with the front wheel touching the rad under braking?

is the rad in the standard place under the yoke or dropped at all

Cheers

The simple answer is:
Rad is Lower than std, the rad is a lot bigger than std (ZXR400L).
Headers are one offs made to spec, Front wheel does not touch at all, as whole bike rides higher than a stock NC29 ( gives better graound clearance, better susspension set up, more wheel to rad clearance allowing fitment of bigger rad etc). the development of this bike was & is ongoing, lots of it are one off & made to a specific requirement.

Cheers spanners

I only asked about the system as it looks exactly like the Beet system on my bike which do stick out from the head quite a way, my bike also runs slightly higher than standard as I have full maxton sussys and revalve on the later model fully adjustable 29 forks, I see you are running cbr6 forks, the trouble I have is possibly that I prefer to have the forks dropped through the yokes slightly giving even less clearence to the rad, even with the standard rad I had to trim the fender down as it was pushed against the wheel.

Oh well I guess I will just have to fit it and see how I get on.

Yep thats Pete Thompsons bike, or thats a couple of photo`s of the one he sold , still has the other one that was the spare bike though virtually the same, though now its probably more trick than the one in the pictures, He`s a mate of mine,he`s a bloody wizard he is, makes all the stuff for his NC29 himself, we call him "professor kitzel" amongst other things ha ha.
Should see the other stuff he`s building???!!.
