zxr400 usd's on fzr
I'm looking at options as my fork stanchions are looking fairly sorry for themselves and although the swept areas are mot passes at the moment I suspect they've got less than 12 months left in them.
If I'm going to have to monkey around then I'm going to fit USD's of some description.
I'm sure somebody on here had fitted the zxr's usd's onto the 3tj, are they still on here?
is it just a case of getting the fzr stem pressed into the zxr yokes and bolting it straight on?
did the lock stops need modifying?
do you use the FZR front wheel or the zxr one?
cheers

You'll probably need the ZXR front end and have the stem pressed in. The ZXR wheel forks brakes and bars all work together but once you add in the Yam stuff as well it gets a bit hit and miss.

What model fzr do you have,
I have fitted zxr400l forks and yokes to my 3jt,but it needs some lathe work, not much but some
you will need both stems and will need to cut the zxr one off where the bit that is pressed into the bottom yoke,
and to increase the inside dia so that you can press the fzr stem through it,because the fzr stem is to small in dia.
Hope this makes sense.

cheers Hunter,
yep, I've got a 3tj.
did you use your existing FZR front wheel?
if so did you need spacers for the wheel and the brake calipers?

I have used a nc30 front wheel, with gsx1300 6 pots and made spacers for calipers and for wheel

Thanks for that.
Re: zxr400 usd's on fzr
I did have a set of the USD forks and yokes from the TZR250R 3XV model. They went straight into the 3TJ as the stem is the same and i think the wheel from 3TJ went straight in as well, although the TZR wheel was narrower and took a 110 section tyre.

Not sure how easy it would be to find a set now though

You could always put on the complete front end from an RGV250 (VJ22) or GSXR400 (GK76a).
They are a direct bolt on as the stems are the same length and the bearings have the same internal diameters!
You will need the whole front end though and the lockstops need to be modified as one has them at the front, the other has them at the back (can't remember which way round at the mo!).
Here's my bike with this setup and some 6 pot brakes.

Alex.

All of a sudden I found myself in love with the world,
so there was only one thing that I could do,
was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long!

Alex, with the suzuki USD's you used, does the 3TJ wheel and discs fit, or do they need to be from the suzuki?
