The 120/70 will more than likely rub on your front mudgaurd, it should be a 120/60

The 160 at the back you may get away with. I run a 160/60-18 Avon Azzaro Storm but had to have4 tiny spacers made to stop it fouling the chain and the profile is not ideal for the bike

I'm going back to a 150/60-18 rear with a 120/60-17 front. I'm going to try the Dunlop Alpha A10s rather than the Bridgestone BT090 ( although I believe that there is now a BT090 PRO for the rear that is quite new out)

Stick with what Honda put on, they didi it for a good reason

You want H rated tyres. 090's or Alphas are designed for 400.

it shouldn't foul the mud guard but what it might foul is the V piece if you forks are bog stock and in need of a refresh .

most of my VFR's run or have ran 120/70 and the only forks to have let the tyre rub the V piece were tired 89 spec forks.
