Prepping for Summer
I thought i'd post up an update for my bike, been pretty discreet on here for the last couple of years but as well as balancing work, family etc etc, i've been trying to snatch some time to build a hybrid. I followed the ideas created by others on here and finally got it all together, well nearly.
Currently it's sitting in my garage in "trackday" trim but with the arrival of my daughter 2 weeks ago, i have to admit that i'm not gonna have much time / cash to attend more than a couple this year.
Anyway, pictures of it taken a couple of days ago.

Bodywork is courtesy of Clarkes racebike and is nicely finished for trackwork. I've started addding some stickers that i obtained a few months ago from a guy on the rgv250 forum on one side, still to do the other.
Anyway as it's not going to see much action on the track, i've decided to register it as a 600 & sort it for an MOT.
Since these pictures, i've obtained a new rear disk from ebay, new EBC prolites for the front, an Ohlins shock & a second set of RRSP bodywork from ebay, which i'm hoping will give me at least one good set, saving a respray for the time being.
One thing that i need to look at, with the fireblade radial master cylinder i am using, the front brake (not lever) hits the clocks, am i right in assuming this will fail the MOT? Was thinking of aralditing some bolt heads to the lockstop. Just wondered if anyone else has hit this issue?

Re: Prepping for Summer
ohh, another question,
has anyone tried these? http://www.tastynuts.com/prodimage.php? ... colours=no" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
probolt appear to do chain adjuster blocks which look like they'd fit. i have 2 sets of originals that are both at best scratched, thought i'd invest in some new ones at some point.

Re: Prepping for Summer
be careful if you take it for mot with the prolites on, they could fail it as they are race use only!
looks well good though! mmm another idea for my road bike!

Interesting, didn't think about the pro-lites. Any ideas why they're classed as track only? Will get it MOT'd with the original disks as they're in a reasonable state.

Re: Prepping for Summer
somethig to do with the make up of the metal, standards tend to be stainless but prolite are cast so they have a tendency to rust is what i'vebeen told, making them unsuitable apparently! though they seem to stop you well enough on the track!
bit like wet tyres not being road legal i guess.

This question was asked in the main General forum the other day, The garantee is different on the race disks.

Re: Prepping for Summer
Well, unfortunately for the next couple of months the track bodywork is going on the shelf. Hopefully when home life settles back down a bit i'll be able to spend a couple of days on the track.
Anyway, I managed to snatch a couple of hours in the garage this week, Pro-lites arrived and are on, as is the new rear disk. With the front wheel out, i checked the bearings and they felt slightly notchy. New ones have arrived in the post, just got to find an hour or so to change them.
R6 shock is off & sold. Ohlins is now in its place. I've got to get some proper straps as the extenal resevoir is currently taped in place.
New Ebay bodywork has also arrived & i now have the luxury of picking and choosing from 4 side panels, 2 x seats & 2 x top fairings. It even arrived with a carbon front mudguard, i will need to remove the paint and try and restore the finish.

I'm still waiting for the logbook to arrive, i still need to bleed the brakes and source / wire in a rear brake light switch as its now running rearsets. I'm also still running the 400 coils & from reading Cagivas thread, I might swap them out for the foxeye ones some & race HT leads i've got in the garage.
It's getting there now. Hopefully it'll be ready for the MOT in a couple of weeks.
