if you fitted the R6 shock to your bike for the road and stuck with the original spring then you may want to make use of the following link.

I ran the original spring for about a year and have just changed to a softer one. My bike has been transformed from having a skittish, rock hard, confidence sapping rear end to a thing of loveliness. The original r6 spring is just way to hard for the potholed, rippled, mangled mess that passes for roads round my way. It probably works really well on a track bike but my road bike became hard work and almost unpleasant to ride.

the original fzr spring rate is I think 325lb's
the r6 one is over 500lb's

I've just fitted a 375lb 7 inch spring from demon tweeks, took me about an hour all in.

They worked perfectly.

I took my R6 shock off because it was too hard and ended up with a nitron unit off a FZR1000 with I think a 425lb spring, which was much better.

I think I may be making that mod shortly.

I can thoroughly recommend it.

I've been thoroughly impressed with the 375lb rear spring over the last two days. It has reinstated my lost confidence as a result of the r6 spring on the road.

If it helps I weigh a little over 11 stone so if you are much more or less than that you may want to factor that in to your spring choice.

I'm a bit porky at 13 1/2 stone, which is probably why the nitron works well.

I'm just about to build up a 3TJ trackbike, so was thinking about using the R6 shock on that as it's a track only bike.

How does the standard R6 spring work on track (especially Oulton as it's my local)?

Really a spring should be in the middle of the spring's loading, which is why a spring change is good.
