Hi Guys,

The 3en1 has developed a clutch noise and was wondering that is the most likly cause for it.
In neutral with the clutch lever pulled in (no noise)
In neutral with clutch lever let out (noise) Sounds like a bearing noise!

Thinking maybe the needle roller bearing in the clutch nest.
Well hoping so that i dont have to split the crank case.

I have had the clutch plates out 6 months ago and all look Ok for thinkness and flatness.

Thanks

It's a common problem with Yamaha's. Specially with the FZR/Thundercats and the early R1/6's.

The needle bearing in the outer clutchbasket that is gone. New bearing costs 30 euros and can be replaced without splitting the cases.

To check, remove the plates and feel if there is any play on the outer basket.

Get to it soon before you wear out the clutchbasket bearing face.
