Re: engine help on swaping
get a mate to help! did one of my engines on my own and it was a bit painful! just make sure you tighten everything up check the alignment of the sprockets take lots of pictures of where things route like wires etc. might need to beef up front forks, def. refresh them and make sure your brakes work! do all the usual pre ride checks and fluid top ups then try it! slowly!
i found it easier to put the rear most mount in and pivot it up from there get as much out of the way as possible before you start!

Re: engine help on swaping
do the t/cat motors go into a 1wg?,i only mention it as the t/cat motor hangs from the frame spars and the 1wg has an ally cradle.i always thought that you needed a pre 94/95 fzr600 (3he i think) to be compatable with the frame-though i may be wrong but might be worth checking before you part with any cash

Re: engine help on swaping
Ithink they go in because Yamaha kept the moulds similar. But I'm not sure the sporkets line like the 3HE motor.
The T'cat carbs are different to your bike so your airbox won't fit, and it won't go under the tank cover. They also have a throtle sensor which will cause your revcounter to do weird things.
The 600 3HE motor will run on your CDI although it's better with 600's. The carbs are similar to your 400 and so your airbox will fit ... although you'll need to space the tank shroud up a bit to fit. Because the egine casings are common the sprokets line straight up so there's no problem.
Use the 3HE engine

I think you have to make a new frame cradle,
To be able to fit the foxeye motor in the 1wg frame.

No - It will fit but it's just a bit more mucking arround than a 3HE. Given the airbox problems with the 4JH the 3HE is a much better bet

I have a 3he (fzr600 1990) with a foyeye (4jh) thundercat engine in it and all the engine mountains are the same as the 3he
The only difference is between the engine mountains is there are some on the barrels which some of you 400 people with a plate use to fit in to your frames.
With the 4jh engine 3he engine the chain allinment is different so what i intend to do when i can is put the top end of the 4jh on the bottom end of the 3he engine which means the chain is allined and i have been told it makes it in to a 660 as one engines stroke is shorter then the other.
I have kept the 3he wiring loom and wired the 4jh cdi in to the wiring loom and i have a spare 3he loom as well

Re: engine help on swaping
Not to sure about the studs / oilways lining up with the 4jh / 3he engines and you might need a special spacer to raise the barrels to allow for the longer stroke.
how much a sprokets out of line ???
