Right, just taken delivery of some lovely new downpipes pipes with steel collars form yer maun Royster (thanks Rhory, much appreciated matey!!) to cure the rotted collar ones I have. However, the pipes he sent the standard can is all one with the pipes. Now I am secretly looking forward to trying the original can out and seeing what it sounds like and how the bike runs (she had a race can on but carbs were standard) however ideally I'd like to be able to swap between the original can (turn that into a slip on) and the race can. How's best to achieve that?

You get them with many aftermarket cans but you can but them separatly.. a collar type thing you weld onto the original can turning it into a slip (after you cut the original can off)

Cheers Neo! So where do I get the collar from? I am guessing I can look at my old pipes to see where to cut. What's best to use to cut it?

did mine with a large hacksaw and some patience!
have seen the original can refitting collars on ebay from time to time. after removing mine I decided I'd never fit it ever again though
